Wayfarer trail

About Us

We are Karen Price and Richard Roberts.

We moved to North Wales in June 2013.  After living in London for nearly 20 years and spending the majority of weekends escaping the city to ride our bicycles, we decided it was time to move.  Karen resigned from her job of running classical music concerts and Richard relocated his furniture making business.

We decided on Bala as it is close to many of the country’s best trail centres, offers superb road cycling and is a beautiful place to live.  Our plan was to find a home for us which had space for a workshop for Richard and also had buildings we could use as holiday accommodation.  After looking at many properties we found Ty Hen in Sarnau.

Karen was once a cat 2 road racer but has hung up her racing wheels and now devotes her cycling time to hammering around the local lanes and coaching young people and novice cyclists.

Richard is a Three Peaks Cyclocross veteran and prefers to head off road.  He prefers natural riding but when that gets too muddy loves nothing more than beating himself up at one of the many local trail centres.

We are both founder members of Clwb Beicio Bala and Karen is a Level 2 British Cycling Coach.  Richard is an experienced bike mechanic, inveterate tinkerer and ‘Gold Trader’ on Retrobike.  He also makes furniture.

We both still talk a good race.
